A wedding house celebration turned tragic early this morning when a 28-year man was stabbed to death during a row over the music.
The murdered man has been identified as Chaves Mangal who was a Corporal in the Guyana Defence Force.
The incident took place at Good Hope on the East Coast of Demerara early this morning, just after midnight.
A police report said a number of other persons were also injured with stab wounds as the wedding reception became violent over music being played.
The police report said Mangal was at the wedding reception last evening when the music stopped playing and a man who was at the wedding approached the DJ booth to query about the music.
Mangal and several other persons reportedly went to the same DJ booth and a row started.
Eyewitnesses said it was during that row that the man who was the first to go to the DJ pulled out a knife and stabbed Mangal to his chest.
As Mangal collapsed, his attacker reportedly injured two other persons while his friends started to pelt bottles at the wedding house.
The injured man was rushed to the Balwant Singh hospital where he died while receiving emergency treatment.
The Police said the DJ was also attacked and chopped to his hands by one of the suspects and relieved of his laptop as he left the scene.
One of the suspects has since been arrested as the investigations continue. According to the Police, the suspect told investigators that he was involved in an incident at the wedding house after being attacked.
