The Guyana Police Force is investigating an armed confrontation between a group of Police Officers and gun carrying party goers outside a city nightclub recently.

A video recording of the incident surfaced on social media today showing a number of men armed with guns and Police ranks in plain clothes arguing with each other. At one point, loud gunshots were heard and the video recording also captured one of the men being gun-butted, and others drawing their weapons.

It is unclear what led to the confrontation, but News Source understands that several persons, including the Police ranks who were present, will be questioned as part of a widespread investigation of the incident.

A senior Law Enforcement Official told News Source that the incident is worrying and raises fresh concerns about the number of persons in the country with firearms. The official said the response of the Policemen who were on the scene is also worrying.
