Three COVID-19 related deaths were recorded in Guyana on Saturday, taking the total number of deaths from the disease to 55.

The Ministry of Health did not provide details about the death, but all three were men above the age of 60.

The three were identified as a 62-year-old from Region Seven, a 67-year-old from Region One, and a 70-year-old from Region Seven.

All three passed away in medical institutions, according to the Health Ministry. In the past six weeks, 35 persons lost their lives to COVID-19. In the previous four months, Guyana had recorded 20 deaths.

The country also recorded 49 new cases yesterday, taking the total number of active cases to 552 with 504 of those persons in home isolation. The COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit currently has 15 persons.
