Police investigators are looking for two men who on Friday broke into the home of a Haslington, East Coast Demerara family and chopped the owner to death while injuring his wife.
According to the Police, initial investigations indicate that two men, both of whom were armed with cutlasses, entered the home of 40-year-old Chetram Bharrat and his reputed wife, 36 year-old Lomattie Ramdat,through a window.
“The men demanded cash and jewellery during which the two victims were chopped about their bodies.
Chetram Bharrat was later pronounced dead at the Georgetown Hospital, while his wife, Lomattie Ramdat is receiving medical treatment.
The wife is expected to give a full statement to the police as she recovers from her injuries.
