High Court Judge grants UG Bomb Threat suspect $10,000 bail

After having her bail application denied twice by the Magistrates’ Court, the Attorney for University of Guyana bomb threats suspect, Sheneza Jafferally was successful in the High Court.

Justice Navindra Singh today granted bail for the woman in the sum of $10,000.

She was charged two weeks ago with allegedly using her phone to issue bomb threats against the University of Guyana.

In Court, Justice Singh noted that there was no evidence presented to the Court that indicated that the young woman was a threat to society. He requested that the Police provides evidence that would show that the young woman is a threat or would tamper with any evidence if released.

Bail was granted and the young woman will appear in the Magistrates’ Court for the continuation of her trial.

It was earlier this month that the University of Guyana was forced to shut down its Turkeyen campus for three days after the series of bomb threats.

Police and bomb investigators were called in and their probe of the incident led to the arrest of the young woman.
