Well-known Dental Surgeon and political commentator, Dr. Cheddi "Joey" Jagan was in Lethem with the coalition on Saturday night encouraging citizens of Lethem and the rest of Guyana to throw their support behind the incumbent David Granger.

The only son of late Presidents, Dr. Cheddi Jagan and Janet Jagan, joined the campaign trail on Saturday for the APNU+AFC.

Well-known Dental Surgeon and political commentator, Dr. Cheddi “Joey” Jagan was in Lethem with the coalition on Saturday night encouraging citizens of Lethem and the rest of Guyana to throw their support behind the incumbent David Granger.

“Y’all get up and go out and make sure that he wins a landslide victory because we don’t want to end up with no-confidence no more. Put out the extra effort, get your friends out. This is a very crucial elections and this involves our patrimony”, Jagan said.

He said Guyana’s future is bright with the oil sector and that sector needs proper management to move it forward and he believes that management will be best under the incumbent President.

According to Dr. Jagan, “Guyana has a great future” and it must be taken seriously. He shot down those persons who have been speaking out against the oil companies, describing them as “naysayers”.

Jagan said Mr. Granger is a good man and someone who should be allowed to continue the work he has started, adding that “if he could beat cancer then he can beat the PPP”.

The President also encouraged the citizens of the Rupununi region to throw their support behind the APNU+AFC. He said there has been widespread development all across Rupununi region and the town of Lethem over the past years and that development work will continue.

The President pointed to the number of new wells built in the community to ensure households receive water and also highlighted advancements in information technology area with residents now able to connect better with the rest of Guyana.

On the issue of the oil and gas sector, the President also announced that cash advances will be made available to school children under his government, with particular conditions in place to ensure their regular attendance at school.

Granger said his decade of development plan will cater for communities and towns like Lethem and all citizens stand to benefit.
