Political newcomer and businessman, Robert Badal, who is heading the Change Guyana party into the upcoming elections, has blasted the manifesto plans of the major political parties.
Mr. Badal, who launched his party’s manifesto two weeks ago used his weekly press conference today to call out the APNU+AFC coalition and the PPP for the promises and plans they have put forward in their manifestos.
The APNU+AFC launched its manifesto last Friday and late last year, the PPP launched a summary of its manifesto.
Today, Mr. Badal said both documents lack depth and a real plan to move the country forward.
“The promises of the two parties, the PPP and APNU, are like two sides of the same coin. One reflects the other and thinks alike, each wanting to outdo the other but both have failed us”, Badal declared.
He said the two major parties have collectively failed the people of Guyana over the past fifty years and he is not surprised by some of the promises being made in their elections manifesto.
“At this time, we are subsidizing food and transportation. That illustrates the depth of failure. It is clear that their intentions and policies are intended to keep us poor while giving away our resources to big oil and foreign interests”, the Presidential Candidate noted.
Badal said the two parties continue to fail to address issues in the bauxite and sugar communities and in the inner city. He noted that his party has better plans in place to assist young Guyanese and to create jobs than what’s being offered by the two older parties.
Under Badal’s plan, there would be an overhaul of the tax regime and efforts to push the growth and development of the agriculture sector.
The Change Guyana party is one of the new parties that will be contesting the upcoming elections.
