The recently formed Change Guyana party is accusing the two leading political parties, the APNU+AFC and the PPP of copying the ideas of Change Guyana.
At a Press Conference hosted today at the Pegasus Hotel, Presidential Candidate of Change Guyana Robert Badal said he has been watching the major parties on the campaign trail and is convinced that some of his policies are being copied.
“The PPP and APNU have been copying our policies on the campaign trail, sometimes word for word”, he said.
The businessman turned Presidential Candidate accused both the PPP and APNU+AFC of being architects of high taxes throughout their time in office.
“Twenty-three years in office, now copying word for word our Change Guyana’s low taxes talk, low tax,–oriented, job creating reform policies. At a rally in Bartica, one Presidential Candidate claimed that.. And just understand how humorous this is; I know Bartica and I know region 7, I know Guyanese love nice vehicles. We will lower taxes on vehicles.”
Badal said it is a policy of his party that taxes on imported vehicles should be lowered. He has not explained how that revenue gap will be filled.
He said Guyanese have become tired of divisive politics and that is why he believes his party ought to be supported.
According to Badal,”on the campaign trail those who have consistently failed us are the loudest, they now lay claim to solutions they never had before in the last three decades. The proven corrupt now claiming honesty. Those that propagate abuse of power, violates our constitution and foster poor governance and corrupt practices now claiming openness and decency. Their contradiction and record in government is startling.”
Meanwhile, he said his party is still to settle on a new Prime Ministerial Candidate after the former Prime Ministerial Candidate opted to keep his US Citizenship for what he claims are medical reasons.
