The Attorneys represent the Elections Commission and the various political parties that contested the elections.

The only party to not enter an appearance was the governing APNU+AFC coalition.

However, the Attorney General of Guyana is a respondent in the matter.

Three Justices of the Appeal Court are to listen to arguments from each of the Attorneys tomorrow when the Court will hold another video conference session

. They will then inform them of the date when they will hand down their decision.

The Court action was filed in the name of Georgetown resident, Eslyn David who is being represented by Attorney Mayo Robertson.

Ms. David is seeking the Court’s interpretation of the words more votes than as stated in the Guyana Constitution and also wants the Court to grant a number of orders regarding the validity and credibility of votes cast at the elections and the discrepancies that were uncovered during the vote recount.

The Opposition, People’s Progressive Party, which has been claiming victory, has described the move to the Court as a witchhunt.

The incumbent APNU+AFC has been sticking to its position that votes that cannot be validated ought not be tabulated as part of the final count of the elections.
