Family members and friends of a 16-year-old young woman whose battered and bloodied body was found in a ditch at Kuru Kururu on the Linden Soesdyke Highway have expressed shock over the brutal murder.

The teenager was brutally stabbed to the neck and upper body and dumped into the ditch by her boyfriend, 28-year-old Leo Rodrigues who was later found hanging close to his mother’s Essequibo Coast home.

The two had been in a relationship for a number of years but friends of the young girl describe the young man as a very jealous person who often complained about some of the young lady’s friends. One friend said “he would even check her  blackberry to see who she was talking to and wanted to know everything she was doing”.

Police investigators believe the young man after murdering his girlfriend at Kuru Kururu, dumped her body then traveled to his family’s home on the Essequibo Coast where he spoke to some family members before hanging himself.

The police investigation is ongoing.
