Days after allegedly beating a co-worker to death during an argument, 35-year-old miner, Naresh Baldihoo, was remanded to prison after the charge of murder was read to him.
He was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge this afternoon, when he appeared before the Chief Magistrate.
The Court heard that during an argument on August 12, 2017 in the Potaro Backdam, Baldihoo used a spade to beat his co-worker to death. The two were involved in a drunken row at the time.
It is believed that the co-worker, Mohabeer Gangadeen, died on the spot. Baldihoo was arrested just after today.
After the facts of the case were presented today, the accused was immediately remanded to jail. He will make his next court appearance at the Mahdia Magistrates’ Court.
