The body of a 14-year-old schoolboy who went missing during a family outing on Sunday at a highway creek, was discovered early Tuesday morning in the same creek where he and his family spent their day having fun.
Dead is Dhaniram Ramgopaul of Good Hope, East Coast Demerara. Police were called to the scene on the Linden Soesdyke Highway at Madewini on Tuesday morning after the young man’s body floated up.
Police sources told News Source that from all appearances the young man may have drowned. They have not ruled out any foul play but believe drowning was the cause of death. A post mortem examination is expected to be performed to confirm the cause of death.
News Source understands that some red marks were seen on the young man’s chest area and there were also some marks that appeared consistent with fish bites.
Relatives said they had searched the same area where the body was found. He was last seen leaving the creek to go to the washroom but after relatives did not notice him again for the afternoon, they launched a search.
An investigation has been launched.
