A number of persons were treated for minor and other injuries early on Sunday morning following a fight between two young men during the Banks Jubilee Show at the National Stadium.

The show came to an abrupt end just after 3:00am as patrons waited for the final act to take the stage at what has been described as the largest stage show that Guyana has ever seen.

An estimated over 20,000 persons were at the national stadium when two young men got involved in a fight in the large crowd and persons dashed to safety. Most of those injured sustained those injuries as they ran from the fight scene. They were treated at the nearby Diamond Hospital and sent home.

Persons in the general audience scaled the security gates and made their way in to the vip section. Many of them misplaced their shoes, wallets, purses and even hair pieces during the sprint to safety.

There was no gunshot and although, the situation came under control within minutes, the event was ended on the advice of the police as patrons shuttled out of the venue.

The jubilee celebrations saw several shows being hosted and most of them were without any major incident.
