Describing the APNU, AFC and WIN as the “common enemy” against progress, President Irfaan Ali on Saturday told party supporters in Moruca in Region 1, that they must reject parties that are coming with lofty promises and stay with the governing People’s Progressive Party.
He said Amerindian development is at the forefront of his party’s agenda, Region 1 must not make the mistake and take chances with their votes.
“Just like you saw in 2011 and in 2015, there is one common enemy against progress, there is one common enemy against development and against our Amerindian brothers and sisters and that one common enemy has shown it face many times, it is all of those who are oppose to the People’s Progressive Party Civic, whether they are APNU, AFC or WIN, they are all part of the same segment and that is the persons are oppose to you,” the President noted.
According to the President, the Government has been investing in every sector in Region 1, but he acknowledged that much more still needs to be done to ensure that all citizens, especially young people in the region, are able to thrive.

“Do not take the investments that we have made in you for granted, because your government, the People’s Progressive Party Civic government is not going to stop until every single person in region 1, all of you, have the best healthcare, the best education, the best roads, the best schools and the best opportunities,” the President promised.
The President said the Region 1 transformation project is well underway and only his party can lead the development of the Region.
“Under the People’s Progressive Party/ Civic, we are not only going to continue the investment and give you the benefit that we have given you, we are going to give you more, more every single year that we are in government. So, when those persons come and give cash grants and increase salaries and give more support to Indigenous communities, tell that the People’ Progressive Party Civic have done that already and we are going to do it more and better in the years ahead,” the President said.
In addition, the President promised to increase the salaries of Community Service Officers in Hinterland regions, and also promised greater opportunities in sports and persons interested in technical and vocational education.
