55-year-old Mark King passed away early this morning in the Coronavirus Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Hospital. He was a patient in the COVID-ICU for the past ten days.

The nursing fraternity at the Georgetown Hospital has been plunged into mourning with the passing of a beloved male nurse who retired just two months ago.

55-year-old Mark King passed away early this morning in the Coronavirus Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Hospital. He was a patient in the COVID-ICU for the past ten days.

King was admitted to the Georgetown Hospital on the 25th of September after turning up at the Emergency Department with a number of complaints.

A Coronavirus test revealed that he was positive for the virus and he was placed in the ICU because of the severity of his symptoms. He reportedly had a number of underlying conditions.

Public Relations Officer at the GPHC Chel Providence in offering sympathy on behalf of the hospital, told News Source that Male Nurse King served the profession of nursing for 31 years. She said Male Nurse King only retired in July and was loved by many of his colleagues who worked with him over the past three decades.

On Facebook, several nurses expressed shock at the passing while remembering King as a dedicated nurse who was also a good teacher and friend.

Many of them recalled that he worked in almost all of the wards and departments at the hospital including the Emergency Department where he spent the final days on duty before heading into retirement.
