The co-worker said after he answered in the affirmative, he was told that someone in the car wanted to see him. “He went to peep into the car, and they just shoved him in and started to drive away”.

The young lady said she raised an alarm and some other workers from the store who heard her cries, ran out and chased after the car but were unable to offer any help after one of the occupants reportedly whipped out a gun.

The co-worker who did not want to be identified said she is unaware of any problem that Waaldijk may have with anyone and she has not heard him complain about any issue. Other co-workers at the Regent Street store appear confused by the kidnapping but are hoping for their co-worker’s safe return.

Investigations are ongoing into the incident.
