An accident at the Buckhall facility of the Aurora Gold Mines company has resulted in the death of a Security official attached to the company.

Dead is Gordon Mansfield who is also a retired Police Prosecutor.

The accident occurred on Thursday along a trail. Initial reports suggest that the driver of the vehicle lost control after the blowout of one of the tyres. The vehicle toppled several times pitching the occupants out.

All of the injured men were rushed to the medical facility of the gold mining company and later airdashed to the city. Mansfield passed away while receiving treatment at a private hospital.

The Director of Public Prosecutions today expressed shock at the tragic death of the former Police Prosecutor. The DPP’s office has also extended its sympathy to his family.

He was described as a diligent and disciplined worker. The other injured Aurora Gold Mines staff remain hospitalised.
