Goed Intent man remanded over theft and forgery of vaccination booklets

A 27-year-old driver from Goed Intent on the West Bank of Demerara has been charged and remanded to jail over the theft of blank COVID-19 vaccination booklets and other items.

The man, Avinash Ramaherwar reportedly worked at the West Demerara Hospital as a driver and would be in charge of collecting the booklets and other items from the Ministry of Health for the hospital.

It is alleged that between the 24th and 27th August, he was arrested following an investigation into the theft of the blue COVID-19 vaccination booklets and forgery of an official document.

In Court today, he was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge. He has been remanded to jail until the 20th September when the matter will come up again.

The Police earlier this week nabbed three men with the blank vaccination documents and later found other blank vaccination documents stashed in the hospital’s vehicle that was used by the driver.
