The Customs Anti Narcotics Unit announced tonight that seven persons were taken into custody for questioning following the discovery of cocaine in a shipment of frozen fish that was being prepared for export.
The shipping company currently being investigated allegedly hails from the West Bank of Demerara, according to CANU.
The drug enforcement body indicated that more details will be made available on Wednesday as the probe continues.
Based on the photographs provided, it appears as though the cocaine was wrapped in long pellet form and then placed in the fish themselves in a dug out area.
There have been other similar efforts to get the cocaine out of Guyana. CANU has been stepping up its drug fighting activities and investigative skills.
