A relationship that started less than a year ago came to a bloody and gruesome end this morning when a 31-year-old Sophia woman was stabbed to death by her boyfriend at her home.
The dead woman, Lisa Daniels, was stabbed multiple times to her body in her bedroom by her boyfriend, Meshack Benjamin. The Guyana Police Force said the woman was stabbed 22 times about her body.
Her two young children were at home at the time of the tragedy early this morning. The children have been left traumatized, according to relatives.
The young woman had reportedly ended the short-lived relationship Benjamin, but he still wanted to be with her.
Screams for help filled the air at the woman’s Sophia home. It was her sister and brother-in-law who live next door that heard the screams and rushed to her aid, but it was too late.
The sister said by the time they got into the house, the woman was bleeding from several parts of her body, as the murderous ex-boyfriend stood over her with two knives in his hands.
The sister’s husband wrestled away the knives from the man and reportedly held him down to the ground as the Police and medical services were contacted.
The 31-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead, while her killer ex-boyfriend was arrested by the Police and taken into custody.
Investigations are ongoing.
