On the same day that his father was charged with attempting to bribe policeman to have him released, a Sophia Teen was remanded to prison after being charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
19-year-old Micheal Raghubeer stood before the Chief Magistrate at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court this afternoon and faced the charges.
The Court was told that on May 9th, 2017 on Vlissengen Road, he was caught with a .38 Pistol along with five matching rounds, although he was not the holder of a firearm license .
The accused immediately entered a plea of not guilty after the charges were read to him.
Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore objected to bail and stated that on the day in question, the accused was on a motorcycle with another man and jumped off of the moving bike after noticing a police patrol.
The gun and ammunition allegedly fell from him and he tried to run from the scene.
He was chased down by police ranks and arrested. The other man who was riding the motorcycle, managed to escape and is still to be arrested.
Bail was denied and the teen will make his next court appearance early next month.
