(NY Daily News) A man sought for shooting a 31-year-old (Guyanese) man to death during a robbery in Queens — marking the first homicide of the new year — was behind bars Saturday after being tracked to Pennsylvania, officials said.
Smith was captured about 110 miles from where he allegedly shot Ricky Kalisaran while trying to rob him and his brother in South Richmond Hill on Jan. 2.

In the first city homicide of the year, Dreshaun Smith, 22, allegedly shot the two Kalisaran brothers, killing one of them.

The brothers were shot on 124th St. near Liberty Ave. about 3:25 a.m. Several hours earlier, they had attended their grandmother’s funeral, devastated family members said.

Sunny Kalisaran was shot in the back, but survived the attack.
Cops identified Smith as the gunman early in the investigation.
The NYPD confirmed the arrest and said detectives were in the process of extraditing him back to New York, where he will be charged with murder, officials said.
As of Friday, there have been six murders citywide this year, compared to 10 during the same period last year, a 40% drop, according to NYPD statistics.
