Three days after the gruesome murder of 61-year-old Satie Monica Singh aka Satie Bekharry, the Guyana Police Force has announced that the only suspect in the case will be heading to the Court to face the murder charge.
The Police Force today said it has received legal advice to move ahead with the murder charge against the suspect Rafeek Khan.
The man who is believed to be in his early 30’s and is a taxi driver was found hiding in the ceiling of the woman’s house, moments after Police were called to the East Coast property by concerned neighbours.
The victim was heard crying out for help and that cry for help got the neighbours’ attention and they summoned the Police. Police ranks were forced to use tear smoke to get the man out of the ceiling.
He was arrested and taken into custody immediately.
A post-mortem examination carried out on the woman’s body found that she died from brain haemorrage as a result of blunt trauma to the head. She was beaten to the head and body and also suffered a number of broken ribs.
Persons in the area said the two were known to each other and moments before the woman cried out for help, the two were heard in a loud argument in the house.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned tomorrow for the murder.
