Teens die in East Coast Demerara accident

Two teenage friends lost their lives late on Sunday night in a smash-up on the Montrose Public Road on the East Coast Demerara. The incident occurred just after 10pm.

A Police report of the incident which involved three cars, explained that the two 19-year-olds, Michael Pierre and Daniel Durant were traveling in Pierre’s car when he reportedly lost control of the car and ended in the opposite lane and in the path of other vehicles.

Two vehicles were unable to avoid hitting the car and the three slammed into each other, resulting in Pierre’s car flipping over several times.

Passersby raised an alarm and rushed the drivers and occupants of the three cars to the hospital, where Pierre and his passenger and longtime friend, Daniel Durant, were pronounced dead.

The other persons were admitted in a serious condition. The drivers of the other two cars remain hospitalised.

The Police said a full investigation is underway.
