The Chief of Security at the BK Security company lost his life tragically this afternoon in an accident at Le Ressouvenir on the East Coast of Demerara.
The man, Michael Bascom, was driving a 4×4 pick-up with a relative as his lone passenger, when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle and slammed into the side of a bridge before crashing into a utility pole, flipping the vehicle over.
Police investigators blocked off the scene of the accident as emergency services were summoned. The relative who was with Bascom, received minor injuries according to the reports.
Police investigators believe that speeding was a factor in the crash. A probe is underway.
