
The Region Seven indigenous community of Jawalla has been thrown into mourning with the deaths of three women, who were crushed during a violent storm in the area on Thursday afternoon.
According to reports coming out of the region, a number of trees were uprooted during the storm and the women were crushed by one of the trees that fell onto them.
A team from the Civil Defence Commission is expected to head into the area today, with support from other government agencies.
The dead women have been identified as Godfreda Fredericks, Celis Albert and Celina Hope.
A number of other persons from the community including children, who were all injured during the storm were rushed to a hospital in a nearby community for medical attention. Details on the seriousness of their injuries are unknown.
