A 27-year-old delivery truck driver has found himself facing questioning following the death of a 15-month-old toddler.
According to a Police report, the truck was in the Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo community early on Saturday morning being used to sell cooking gas and kerosene.
The driver had stopped at the home of the toddler’s grandparents to make a purchase and no one reportedly noticed when the young child bolted from the yard and found himself under the truck.
As the driver was pulling off from the family’s home, the left rear wheel of the truck rolled over the young child, crushing him.
The child, Terrence Wilson, was hurriedly rushed to the Leonora Hospital, but was pronounced dead. A post mortem examination is to be conducted in the new week.
Family members were seen at the hospital crying uncontrollably as they tried to console each other.
