Six years after they were charged in connection with a 22-pound cocaine bust, three men were last Thursday sentenced to three years and six months in jail and fined $15.1 million each after being found guilty of cocaine trafficking.
The trio, Denzil Park, Rickardo Denhart and Patrick Ram were found guilty of the drug trafficking offence by Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty, and she immediately handed down her sentence and issued the fines last Thursday.
The Three were charged in August 2018 after they were busted by ranks from the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit in a parking lot of a fast food restaurant with the cocaine.
The Court was informed that CANU ranks were conducting a sting operation in the area when they noticed one of the accused, Ricardo Denhart, carrying a multi-colored shopping bag to a bus that was parked in the same area.
The ranks moved in on the bus and a search was conducted, revealing the cocaine. It was stashed at the back of the driver’s seat. The three men were arrested and charged following the completion of the investigations.
