Tuschen men busted with 90 pounds marijuana

The Customs Anti Narcotics Unit is preparing charges against two men from Tuschen on the East Bank Essequibo after the two were busted with 90 pounds of marijuana.

The two men have been identified as 39-year-old Shafeek Latif and 35-year-old Naresh Totaram.

In a statement today, CANU said the two men were occupants of a Toyota Spacio motor car that was under surveillance as part of a drug trafficking probe.

The car was stopped along the Parika Public Road yesterday and during a search, CANU ranks discovered the large parcels of compressed marijuana stashed in the vehicle.

CANU said both men were immediately arrested and charged and will make a Court appearance soon.

The bust came as the drug enforcement agency has been tightening its grip on drug traffickers and distributors all across the country.
