City Mayor Ubraj Narine was this afternoon re-elected to the post of Georgetown’s Chief Citizen when the Council held its election among Councilors.
Councilor Alfred Mentore has been re-elected to the post of Deputy Mayor and longtime Councillor, Oscar Clarke will continue to head the Council’s Finance Committee.
The three were elected to the positions with the full support of the APNU and AFC Councilors while the PPP Councilors abstained from the votes.
Mayor Narine continues to receive widespread support from the citizens of Georgetown and has been credited with working along with other Councilors and the administration of City Hall to ensure workers of the Council are paid on time and there is an improvement in the working environment there.
But Narine has also complained about poor cooperation from many longtime senior functionaries of the municipality.
At age 28, he intends to continue his efforts to develop the Council’s work while ensuring better services are provided to the citizens of Georgetown.
