Venezuelan woman found murdered in Eterengbang shallow grave; Last seen alive with two countrymen

Police investigators in Region Seven are probing the murder of a Venezuelan woman, whose body was found with multiple chop wounds and partly buried in a shallow grave in the Eteringbang backdam.

Investigators have identified the dead woman as Deissy Antury Perdomo.

She worked in the bordering community of Eteringbang as a clothes vendor and also worked as a gold miner in the same area.

Her body was found on Tuesday.

A police statement said the woman’s husband left for Venezuela last week and she remained in the company of two other Venezuelan men who also worked as porkknockers in the area.

She was seen leaving the backdam and heading back into the backdam last weekend in the company of the two men.

When her husband returned to Guyana on Tuesday, there was no trace of the woman and he immediately raised an alarm and launched a search for her.

The search ended when her badly brutalized body was found in a 4-foot hole partly covered in the Eteringbang backdam.

The two men she was seen accompanying in and out of the backdam last weekend reportedly left for Venezuela last Sunday.

The reputed husband who discovered the body has since been taken into custody to assist with the investigation.
