Police in the mining town of Linden are probing an apparent suicide case after a woman was spotted jumping into the Demerara river from the Mackenzie-Wismar bridge. Her identity is unknown, according to reports.
A search has been launched for the body. The incident took place early on Tuesday morning even as vehicles were traversing the bridge.
Police Commander at Linden, Senior Superintendent Calvin Brutus confirmed the incident to News Source and explained Police investigators were called to the scene after several persons reportedly witnessed the incident.
He said the Police will be reviewing surveillance video as part of their probe.
