A night out with a group of friends turned tragic for a young Stewartville mother of one, who died early this morning when the car she was driving veered off the road and into a swamp.
Dead is 26-year-old Nkasi McKend. Two other occupants of the car received a number of injuries.
According to a Police statement, McKend was driving motor car, PRR 4153 around 5:00 this morning.
It is suspected that she lost control of the vehicle, while negotiating a turn at a fast rate, along the De Kinderen Public Road on the West Coast of Demerara.
The car reportedly flipped over and came to a stop in a swamp on the western side of the road. The woman reportedly received multiple injuries to her head and other parts of the body. She was removed from the car in an unconscious state and taken to the Leonora Hospital by the Police.
McKend was pronounced dead on arrival, while the other two occupants, Mario Desa and Caleb Morrison, were treated and released.
The three were spotted earlier in the evening in the Plaisance area for the regular Thursday night hangout on the railway embankment.
The probe continues. Guyana has recorded over 110 road deaths for the year so far.
