The Customs Anti Narcotics Unit has been stepping up its drug eradication operation in the Berbice area and has once again unearthed a large quantity of marijuana.
In the latest operation which took place on Wednesday in Dukestown, agents found more than 100 pounds of marijuana in two bags.
In a statement, CANU said three men ran from the area leaving the bags of marijuana behind. It is suspected that they might have brought it out of a farm in the same area.
CANU said the bags with the marijuana have been confiscated as the investigations continue.
In the past few months, CANU has conducted a number of exercises and operations in the Berbice area, netting hundreds of pounds of marijuana.
