A Cuban national was found dead under a container at the Muneshwers shipping terminal at Houston this morning.
The dead man has been identified as 23-year-old Alex Jesus Gonzales Beria, who was a construction worker, The man reportedly resided at Canal No. 1 on the West Bank Demerara.
The circumstances surrounding the man’s crushing death remain unclear, with the company tightlipped on the discovery, and the Guyana Police Force offering no information on its probe.
News Source understands that it is suspected that the 23-year-old was sleeping in a gap within the container terminal. It is believed that he was crushed to death as containers were placed in the area, with the workers unaware that the man was in the area.
The man’s body was discovered crushed under the containers, and Police investigators were summoned.
When News Source arrived at the East Bank Demerara location this morning at around 10:00hrs, a police vehicle was seen leaving the scene. When approached by News Source for details on the incident, the Muneshwers’ onsite security manager declined to comment.
Gonzales Beria’s relatives and friends also gathered at the scene in search of answers.
