A former member of the Guyana Police Force was today found guilty of raping a 13-year-old boy.
Ex-Policeman Milton Kewley will however, have to wait until tomorrow before the Judge hands down the sentence for the brutal crime.
The 50-year-old man shouted that the Jury had made a mistake, as he covered his face while leaving the Courthouse. He also said the evidence presented against him was fabricated and he is confident of eventually being freed of the charge, hinting at an appeal.
He said God knows that he is innocent and also knows that he would never engage in sexual activity with a male, adding that the jury will have to live with their decision.
The 12 member jury returned the guilty verdict today in the courtroom of Justice Priya Sewnarine Beharry after listening to the case for several days.
The rape incident dates back to August of 2013 when the man engaged in the sexual penetration of the young boy.
The convict is expected back in Court on Wednesday for the sentencing phase of his trial.
