Police in Linden have arrested a 27-year-old East Coast Demerara construction worker after he was nabbed with close to five pounds of cocaine this afternoon at a Police check-point at Bamia in Linden.
According to a Police statement, Delon Vanderstoop was a passenger in the Route 94 minibus (Lethem-Georgetown) when searches of the bus were conducted.
The bus was on its way to Georgetown from Lethem.
The cocaine was found in a haversack that the Police said Vanderstoop was carrying.
He was taken to the Mackenzie Police station where he was told of the drug trafficking offence and immediately arrested.
He is expected in Court before the end of the week.
