The court was told that on Dec 3rd, 2016, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Maxine Duncan to cause actually bodily harm at Ekereku Landing.

A young police officer has found himself on the other side of the law and has landed in hot water, after he allegedly assaulted a woman by lashing her to the face with a beer bottle.

26-Year-old policeman, Gadi Hoyte, appeared before Chief Magistrate to answer the assault charge.

The court was told that on Dec 3rd, 2016, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Maxine Duncan to cause actually bodily harm at Ekereku Landing.

On the day in question, the woman went to the Police station and an argument began between the two.

Later in the day, the woman reportedly confronted the Policeman at the Landing, and it was there that he armed himself with a glass bottle and dealt her several blows to the face.

As a result of the attack, the woman received injuries to the face.

The man was granted bail in the sum of $75,000 and ordered to stay away from the woman.  The matter will be called again on the 20th June, 2017.
