A young Police Officer shot himself dead this evening at the La Grange Police station, moments after he shot and critically injured a female police officer at the same station.
According to Police sources, the two Police constables, Clement Cockfield and Shanice Fraser, shared a relationship.
It is alleged that the young man received reports that the woman may have been seeing someone else and that angered him.
In a fit of rage, he reportedly barged into the Police station earlier tonight and whipped out his service weapon and shot his police girlfriend.
As other shocked officers rushed in, the young man turned the gun on himself and pulled the trigger. Both were rushed to the West Demerara Hospital, where doctors pronounced the policeman dead.
The injured woman is in a critical condition and is expected to be transferred to the Georgetown Hospital during the night once her condition is stabilized enough.
Senior Police Officers could not be reached for a comment. An investigation has been launched.
