Venezuelan men held with 25 lbs marijuana at Harbour Bridge

The Guyana Police Force is preparing drug trafficking and possession charges against two Venezuelan men, who were busted on Monday with 25 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of their car.

The two were arrested at around 5:15 on Monday morning at the Demerara Harbour Bridge with the large amount of marijuana.

A police report explained that based on information received, the Police set up a road block on the western side of the bridge.

The motor car with the two men, identified as 22-year-old Kevyn De Jesus and 29-year-old Marcelino Marcos, was spotted and after observing the men acting in a “suspicious manner”, the Police said ranks decided to carry out a search of the car.

In the trunk of the car, the Police ranks found 15 compressed parcels of marijuana seeds, stems and leaves.

The men were informed of the offence and taken to the Parfait Harmonie Police station where investigators sought to question them, but the men remained silent.

The Police said investigations are ongoing, as the two remain in custody.
