Tragedy once again struck the West Ruimveldt community in Georgetown on Sunday night when 24-year-old Faynelle Brewster was gunned down in her yard as a bandit chased after her brother in an attempt to rob him.
The incident took place just after 11pm. It is suspected that the brother, who was out earlier, was followed back home by a motorcycle riding bandit who then chased after the man as he went into his yard. The young man managed to run into his house, escaping the bandit. However, the bandit, according to persons in the area, opened fire in the yard, shooting the 24-year-old Faynelle Brewster to the chest and one of her arms.
The woman collapsed in her yard while the gun touting bandit escaped on his motorcycle. She was rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead. The identity of the gunman is unknown, but investigators have been checking the area for CCTV Cameras that might have captured the incident.

There have been growing incidents of armed robberies in the East and West Ruimveldt communities over the past few months, worrying law enforcement. Just over a month ago, local singer, Lolita Callendar aka Lola Doll, was shot multiple times in her car just after arriving in front of her West Ruimveldt home. She survived the attack, but her shooter remains at large.
Investigations into last night’s incident are ongoing this morning.
