No major issue hampered opening of polls for Disciplined Services vote -DCEO

Deputy Chief Election Officer, Aneal Giddings, this morning said that there was no issue with the opening of the polls for the Disciplined Services vote this morning across the country, as the voting process kicked off for the 2025 elections.

“I don’t have no major issue that hampered the opening at all the locations across the spectrum. We have those aircraft movements that should be well underway from Ogle going to Region 8 and 9 and so on, and so as it is now, I have not received any untoward information that has been affecting polls”, Giddings said.

He noted, however, that there were some issues with some party agents at some polling stations but that issue was sorted.

“So some of the parties would not have issues their accreditation letters or appointment letters for their agents. Yes we did have communication from the agents informing us that these are the persons appointed, but unfortunately they didn’t have their letters, so attendants are trained to ask for these letters of appointment and we have been working with the parties and the attendants to ensure that the agents are participating”, Giddings said.

There are more than 10,000 members of the Disciplined Services participating in the elections. International and local observers were seen this morning visiting a number of polling stations and observing the process.
