Guyana is currently averaging about 250 new cases of the virus every day. Health officials are becoming very concerned and the Ministry of Health is now adding additional beds to the Infectious Diseases Hospital at Lilliendaal and the number of hospitalizations is also rising steadily.

18 COVID-19 deaths recorded in 3 days; Hospitalisations continue to rise

The coronavirus death toll in Guyana has climbed to 762 with 18 of those deaths being recorded in three days. The number of active cases in the country is staggering.

There are 4,085 active cases. Over 3900 of those persons are recovering at home with the remaining 166 persons hospitalized.

Guyana is currently averaging about 250 new cases of the virus every day. Health officials are becoming very concerned and the Ministry of Health is now adding additional beds to the Infectious Diseases Hospital at Lilliendaal and the number of hospitalizations is also rising steadily.

Based on the information released by the Ministry of Health, every region in Guyana has active cases with more than 80% of the active cases in Regions 3 and 4.

The Ministry of Health has recorded 137 deaths in the month of September so far, making it the deadliest month of the pandemic in Guyana. 

It is also the month with the largest increase in new cases.  Since the 1st of September, over 5,500 new cases of the virus have been confirmed.
