As the number of new and active COVID-19 cases continues to rise in Guyana after a long period of decline, the Ministry of Health today announced three additional deaths.
A 3-month-old baby girl from Region 4, who passed away on Tuesday, has been listed among the three deaths. The other two COVID victims have been identified as a 41-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman.
The total number of COVID-19 deaths recorded during the month of May now stands at 9.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health also reported today that 206 new cases of the virus have been detected in Guyana. Those 206 new cases came from a total of 2,718 tests that were completed within a 24-hour period.
Health officials continue to encourage persons to wear face masks although it is no longer mandatory. Persons who are still to be vaccinated are being urged to get the shots and those who have been fully vaccinated are being encouraged to go back for a booster shot.
