Police investigators on the West Bank of Demerara are probing the murder of 42-year-old porter, Michael Rawlins. The man, who is originally from Tucville in Georgetown, was stabbed to death on Wednesday evening allegedly by his 27-year-old girlfriend.
The incident took place at Recht Door Zee on the West Bank of Demerara.
A Police statement said the suspect is a Special Constable.
The two were at home when they reportedly got into an argument that ended with the woman arming herself with a knife and stabbing the boyfriend to his upper right leg.
The injured 42-year-old was rushed to the West Demerara Hospital but was pronounced dead. The suspect was taken into custody and could face the official murder charges in the new week.
Just recently, the Guyana Police Force reported on a worrying increase in domestic related deaths that are linked to interpersonal violence.
