Just days after a Guyanese hairdresser was busted at New York’s JFK International Airport with more than 105 cocaine pellets in her stomach, another Guyanese woman has been held trying to traffic cocaine into the US using the same method.
Sources close to Guyana’s Customs Anti Narcotics Unit have confirmed that a Guyanese woman was busted at the JFK Airport on Saturday night with several cocaine pellets in her stomach. The source would not offer much detail since the investigation is ongoing.
The latest drug mule has been identified as Shellon Beckles. The woman reportedly worked at her family’s Norton Street lumber yard business.
News Source understands that she is currently being held at a medical facility where she has started to pass out the cocaine pellets.
An x-ray examination revealed the pellets of cocaine after the woman was questioned by Customs and Border patrols.
It is believed that the bust was part of a joint operation between local and US drug enforcement agents. Investigations are ongoing.
