Bandit shot dead by Police; Stolen items recovered

Early on Saturday morning, based on information, Police officers went to the man's house, where he was cornered. He reportedly came out of the house with a gun pointing at officers. He was shot in the abdomen and taken to the Leonora hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

A bandit, who has several matters before the Courts, was shot dead yesterday by Police during an armed confrontation at his home, hours after he robbed a husband and wife at their East Bank Essequibo home.

According to a Police statement, the dead bandit has been identified as 19-year-old, Noel “Kevin” Kissoon. He reportedly held a couple at gunpoint on Friday night as he relieved them of their jewellery and other possessions.

Early on Saturday morning, based on information, Police officers went to the man’s house, where he was cornered. He reportedly came out of the house with a gun pointing at officers. He was shot in the abdomen and taken to the Leonora hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

According to the Police, investigators were able to recover the man’s weapon and a number of stolen items at his house. A ring belonging to the woman he robbed at gunpoint the night before, was found on his finger.

Kissoon was currently before the Courts on four different charges. He was facing charges of rape, robbery under arms, break and enter and larceny and possession of narcotics. He had previously been convicted of larceny and served time for that conviction.
