Police investigators are probing two tragic accidents that claimed the lives of four persons within the past 24 hours. Investigators in Berbice are hoping to question survivors of a late night crash at Golden Grove on the West Coast of Berbice.
Three persons were killed in that accident while the driver and four others remain hospitalized with serious injuries. According to reports the eight persons were travelling in the five seater Toyota Raum motor car when the driver Devon Pydana lost control and slammed into two parked trucks along the roadway on the Golden Grove Public Road.
They were all rushed to the For Wellington Hospital where doctors pronounced three of the occupants, 22-year-old Tommy Thomas, 19-year-old Jevon Gregory and a so far unidentified male, dead on arrival. The accident occurred just after midnight on Monday.
Meanwhile, Police are also investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about 11:45 on Sundy night on the Zeeburg Public Road, West Coast Demerara. That accident resulted in the death of the death of pedestrian Omadat Narine Singh who was 38 years-old.
According to the Police, investigations have revealed that the driver of a motor car overtook another vehicle and struck down the pedestrian in the process. The driver of the motor car fled the scene but the vehicle was left behind and has been detained by the police.
