Brazilian President Jair Bolsonoro is set to make an official visit to Guyana on Friday to discuss areas of cooperation and other bilateral matters with President Irfaan Ali.
Mr. Bolsonoro was forced to cancel a planned trip to Guyana in January following the death of his mother.
Earlier this year, he held joint talks with President Ali and the President of Suriname during a visit to Suriname.
An advance security and media team from Brazil is already in Guyana ahead of the Friday visit.
Guyana and Brazil have shared close ties for several decades and have worked in a number of areas of trade and agriculture.
Guyana will be looking to discuss energy resources and the oil and gas sector with the Brazilian leader, in addition to infrastructure works that are underway in Guyana that could further reduce transportation costs for suppliers from both countries.
