CANU probing discovery of large amount of ammunition in abandoned Mocha building

The Customs Anti Narcotics Unit is continuing its investigations into the discovery of a large amount of ammunition in an abandoned building in the Mocha Squatting area on the East Bank of Demerara.

The discovery was made on Thursday during a CANU operation in the area.

CANU said during the search of an abandoned building, its agents found one hundred and eighty-six (186) 9×19 mm rounds, one hundred and fifty (150) .32 auto rounds, forty-four (44) .38 mm rounds, and Twenty (20) .223 rounds.

The 400 rounds of ammunition remains in CANU’s custody as the probe continues.

Earlier this week, the GRA Customs Department discovered eight guns and a quantity of ammunition in a barrel that arrived from the US. The investigations into that discovery are also ongoing.
